Sixth Graders Square Off In Battle Of The Books

A group of Eubanks Intermediate School sixth graders recently went to battle against each other. Their reading comprehension skills served as their sword in the school’s annual Battle of the Books competition. This annual event tests students’ book knowledge as they compete against one another in front of their peers.

Teams competing in the final battle included: The Book Nerds, The Four Little Piggies and the Big Bad Cow, The Lord of the Books and The Spine Breakers. In the end, The Four Litlle Piggies and the Big Bad Cow were victorious. The team was led by captain, Lau McGill. Fellow team members were:  Erin Weisert, Ammar Ahmed, Sowmiya Baskar, and Austin Hintze.  This was a record-breaking year for EIS as sixth graders read more than 1,252 books in preparation for the battle. The Battle of the Books is coordinated by EIS librarian Lucy Drenka.
