Dragon Forensics Tournament Update

Members of the Dragon Forensics Team competed at the National Winston Churchill Tournament in San Antonio the weekend of Jan. 13-14. Students brought home numerous qualifications to the Tournament of Champions at the University of Kentucky.

Receiving qualifications were Paul Samuel and Arvind Venkataraman for placing second in Public Forum Debate with more than 60 teams entered. Nate Pisik placed second in Congressional Debate, Tim Dominguez placed sixth and Azhar Hussain placed ninth with more than 90 students entered.

Junior, Lydia Francis received a National Individual Event bid to the Tournament of Champions in San Francisco in the Original Oratory category. Receiving bids to Northwestern University Tournament of Champions in Extemporaneous Speaking were Paul Samuel, Arvind Venkataraman, Tim Dominguez and Megan Schippmann. Senior, Michael Kohm reached the Top 16 round in Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate with 120 entries. He also qualified for the Texas State Meet.

The team leaves Thursday, Jan. 26 for Atlanta, Georgia to compete in the Barkley Forum at Emory University. Click here to read more about the event.
