Dragon Debate Wins at Harvard

3,500 students from 40 states and 5 countries competed in the 38th Harvard Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament Feb. 18-21 and Carroll was well represented by placing 4th in sweepstakes in the Congressional Debate Division.

4 students took Tournament of Champrions Qualifications to the University of Kentucky: Sophomore, Daniella Cohen, Junior, Megan Schippmann and Seniors, Paul Samuel and Arvind Venkataraman.  Paul and Arvind competed in the final round of the top 24, which began with 400 students, the largest division in the tournament.  Arvind also received an award for being named, by his peers, as one of the top 4 students, for his leadership ability.

Carroll was also named in 4th place for the overall sweepstakes award going into next year.  Senior, Timothy Dominguez, competed in the extemporaneous speaking division, with more than 250 students, and advanced to the quarter-final round of the top 24 students.
