Young Artist Contest

Art in the Square is not just for adult artists. Organizers are encouraging the youth in the community to participate in Youth Art in the Square. This annual event is a juried art show produced in conjunction with Art in the Square. Youth Art in the Square will be in Town Square the weekend of April 27-29.

The deadline for students to submit artwork to Youth Art in the Square is Friday, March 30. Youth Art in the Square Chair Susan Ansley said, “We are all proud of our community and would love to have good participation from our local Southlake high schoolers. We would love to have an interest from our own “backyard” where high school students will have the opportunity to experience the jury process, learn the mechanics of working an art fair and have the opportunity to sell their work as well as receive recognition and various prizes.”

Within this Youth Art contest is a congressional art contest whereby students who reside in Congressman Kenny Marchant’s district can win the chance to have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. That student along with a parent will be provided airfare, hotel accommodations, planned tours and $200 spending money which is provided by Kids Matter International.
