Dragon Fans Invited To Parade of Champions

Carroll Independent School District, the City of Southlake and Southlake Town Square are teaming up to celebrate the amazing year of student accomplishments for the Carroll Dragons. Organizers are planning an exciting Parade of Champions/ Southlake Spirit Rally on Sunday, April 22 in Town Square. This event will honor all Carroll ISD State and National Champions, as well as recognize spirit organizations and student groups in grades 9-12 who compete on behalf of Carroll ISD.

“Carroll ISD invites Dragons everywhere to come celebrate this year’s successes with our students at the Parade of Champions,” said School Board President Read Ballew. “This should prove to be a fun event for the entire family, and CISD is proud to partner with the City of Southlake and Southlake Town Square to make this community-wide celebration a reality.”

The parade begins at 4 p.m. on West Grand Avenue between the Southlake Hilton and the Barnes and Noble store. The parade will make its way along Grand Avenue West to Fountain Place and end near Rustin Park. Immediately following the parade, there will be a Spirit Rally on the steps of Town Hall. Dragon fans are encouraged to park in the parking garages and/or larger outside lots and line the parade route. Then families can gather in the Town Square in front of City Hall for a Spirit Rally.

“The City is so proud of all of our Carroll Dragon champions,” said City of Southlake Mayor John Terrell.  “The academic and athletic excellence exhibited by our students is something to celebrate, and I am looking forward to helping these students color Town Square green on April 22.”

The Carroll ISD Campus Teachers of the Year will serve as the parade Grand Marshals. At the Spirit Rally, the community will be recognizing the following State Champions: All-State Band, All-State Choir, Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country, Boys’ and Girls’ Swimming/Diving, National Merit Finalists, Latin Club State Champion, Forensics State Champions, Student Council, Winterguard and Football.

“Southlake Town Square is excited to welcome the dragon nation for the Parade of Champions,” said Marketing Director Karla Chase.  “The energy and tradition that these students and their parents bring to our environment is contagious.  The parade is enjoyed by our merchants, customers, residents and many visitors who shop, work, live and play in Southlake Town Square.   We look forward to saluting their accomplishments with CISD and the City of Southlake.”

Carroll ISD corporate sponsor, Tyler’s will be selling limited-edition Parade of Champions t-shirts in their store. Tyler’s is located at 1420 Civic Place, behind Town Hall. Fans looking for spirit wear and gear can also take advantage of an end of season sale at the Dragon Den located at Dragon Stadium. The Carroll Athletic Booster Club will host a special sale Friday, April 20 from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.
