Despite falling in the regular season finale, the Carroll Lady Dragon softball team is bound for the Class 5A postseason. The Lady Dragons finished fourth in District 7-5A and will face Plano East, the district champion from 8-5A. The Lady Dragons (13-8, 8-6) lost last Friday to Denton Guyer 8-3, but were helped by Keller Central, which defeated Coppell. It allowed Carroll to avoid a tie with Coppell for fourth place.
Dragons Blast Saginaw, Aim For Title
The Carroll Dragon baseball team blanked Saginaw last Friday 15-0. The Dragons were led at the plate by Drew Brown, Ben Sego and Kenny Hill — each had three hits apiece. Pitcher Tyler Alexander went four innings and had 10 strikeouts. The Dragons (17-9, 10-3) can earn the District 7-5A championship on Friday with a victory against Denton Guyer in the regular season finale. Game time is 4 p.m. at Dragon Field. Carroll holds a one-game lead ahead of second-place Fossil Ridge. Fossil Ridge ends the season Friday against Keller.
