Dragon Band Marches Toward Success

Members of the Carroll Dragon Marching Band recently attended summer drumline and leadership camps in preparation for the upcoming 2012 fall marching season.

Drumline members (pictured left) Parker Wagner, Aaron Li, Daniel Henry, Josiah Choe, Joshua Choe, and Adam Bautista were recipients of the “MOST OUTSTANDING ENSEMBLE” at the University of North Texas Drumline Camp in Denton. Drum Captains Parker Wagner and Josiah Choe (pictured right) came away with additional awards, as Parker was named “Most Outstanding Performer” on the snare drum line, and Josiah Choe was named “Most Improved Performer” on the tenor line.

At the Texas A&M – Commerce Leadership Camp, band members also came away with awards, as Julia Snook and Luke Miller earned “Outstanding Leadership” accolades.  Amongst drum major teams from across the state of Texas, Carroll Drum Majors Mollie Danel, Austin Deters, Neha Jain, and Chris Weisberg (pictured left) were named the “Most Outstanding Drum Major Team”.

Congratulations are also extended to Carroll students who received awards from the Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest in June. Neha Jain, flute and Zachary Loucks, alto saxophone were named Outstanding Performers. Out of approximately 90,000 students who participated in the regional UIL music contest and the 24,000 musicians who performed at TSSEC, only 252 students earned this distinguished honor as an Outstanding Performer. The medallion awarded for this honor is identical to those awarded to state champions in all UIL events.
