Property Taxes Due January 31

The deadline to pay property taxes in Tarrant County is the end of January.  Property tax payments are due in the Tax Office or must be postmarked on or before January 31, 2012.  Be sure to mail early, as your payments are timed by postmark.  If you have not paid your taxes at this time or they have not been paid by your mortgage holder, be sure the payment is made before the deadline as penalty and interest will be assessed beginning February 1st.

It is the taxpayer’s obligation to make sure that property taxes are paid.  Failure to receive a tax statement does not mean penalty and interest can be waived.  If you don’t have a statement you should act immediately to obtain one on the Tax Office website at www.tarrantcounty.com  (click on ‘Property Taxes’), by calling 817-884-1100, or visiting one of our eight locations.  You may also check to make sure your payment has been received by any of the methods above.

Please note, our phones lines become very busy and the lines become long as the deadline approaches.  The best way to pay or confirm payment is on the Tax Office website.

You may pay property tax obligations by credit card or eCheck on line on the website or, by telephone by calling 1-800-540-0844 toll-free.  There is a fee for using a credit card charged by the credit card vendor.  There is not a fee for eChecks. If you wish pay in person, you may pay downtown or at any one of the seven Tarrant County subcourthouses.

Taxpayers over age 65 or with a disability may pay property taxes on their homestead in four payments with equal amounts due on or before January 31st, March 31st, May 31st and July 31st.

If you have questions, please contact the Tax Office by e-mail at taxoffice@tarrantcounty.com or by phone at 817-884-1100.
