Carroll Artists Advance at VASE Competition

Carroll ISD made school history Saturday, Feb. 2 when judges selected seven Carroll High School art students to advance to state in the Visual Art Scholastic Event. This is the largest number of CISD students to be selected to state in this competition. The State VASE competition will be held in Bryan, April 5-6.

Each competing student was required to interview with a juror about aesthetic and presenting their artwork The following is a list of students who advanced and details about their artwork:

  • Christy Ballew – (9th) – Snail Mail – stop motion animation
  • Hannah Cory (9th) – The Real Me – pencil drawing
  • Abby Detrich – (10th) – The Great Conquest – stop motion animation
  • Gracie Lanham – (10th) – Reflection – charcoal drawing
  • Nicole Smith – (10th) – The Secret – mixed media
  • Hannah Springer – (9th) – A Look Into Paradise – digital photography
  • Lauren Sullivan – (10th) – 2 pieces –  Expressions and Strawberry Crush both digital photography pieces

All of the works that advanced to state will be on display at the Carroll High School art gallery until Friday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m. The public is welcome to view the art. All guests must check in the school’s front office to receive a visitor badge before being allowed on campus.
