District Teachers, Administrators Learn Together

Teacher Leaders and Administrators met together last Thursday to learn about and discuss this year’s implementation of the Professional Learning Community process in Carroll ISD.

The Professional Learning Community process, which is recognized in research and in practice as the most powerful strategy for sustained, substantive school improvement focuses on learning for all through a culture of collaboration in which teams work interdependently to attain a common goal.

The initiative began this summer with 11 Carroll ISD Administrators attending the Professional Learning Communities at Work Institute in San Antonio. Administrators who attended the conference were involved in training over 90 staff members from all campuses. These campus representatives facilitated conversations about the PLC process on their home campuses Monday during our District Professional Learning Day.

The 2013-14 school year is the first year Carroll will implement the initiative district-wide, and campus leaders are excited about the process.
