City Partnerships Bring Magic to Home for the Holidays

Home for the Holidays has been the unofficial start to the holiday season in Southlake for over eleven years, featuring Santa and the unveiling of Christmas lights in Town Square. Event festivities will begin at 5:30pm and the Tree Lighting is scheduled for 6:30pm.

The City is fortunate to have several sponsors that help make this event possible. Children’s Medical Center is sponsoring Snow Globe Live, a 15-foot snow globe that will provide a unique backdrop for holiday pictures. The Cookie Decorating Sponsor, Kroger, will provide all cookies and decorating icing. Guests will be provided with free bottled water during the event, thanks to Frost Bank, the Quencher Sponsor. The Tree Lighting would not be complete without Santa. Briggs Freeman–one of the Holiday Sponsors, will provide keepsake frames for Photos with Santa.  Holiday Sponsors include Alpine Materials, Sleep Number, Sky Ranch, and Whole Earth Provision Co., all of which will have booths and holiday activities at the event.

In addition to sponsored activities, other event highlights include a 12-foot, four lane snow tubing hill, horse-drawn carriage rides, holiday crafts, refreshments, and live entertainment.  Guests will enjoy holiday music performances by the Southlake Community Band, Johnson Elementary, Old Union Elementary, Rockenbaugh Elementary, Carroll Elementary, Durham Intermediate, Carroll Middle School, Walnut Grove Elementary, and Carroll Senior High School. Other entertainment will be provided by White’s Chapel United Methodist Church Hand Bell Choir, Carroll Senior High Show Choir Carolers, and strolling holiday characters.

Popular radio station, 94.4 KLTY, will broadcast from Southlake Town Square the day of the Tree Lighting from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. Radio personality, Tony Lopez, will emcee the event. Each holiday season, KLTY promotes The 94.9 KLTY Christmas Wish program, asking listeners to send in Christmas wishes or nominate recipients. The Christmas Wish book will be at KLTY’s booth during the Tree Lighting, allowing people to read through the wishes and even choose a wish to grant.

Although the Tree Lighting is only one night, Home for the Holidays spans the entire holiday season, with other activities occurring in Town Square and Town Hall until Christmas.
