Former Carroll Dragon standouts and teammates John Curtiss (Texas) and Tyler Alexander (TCU) are pitching on the big stage at the College World Series in Omaha.
Curtiss, a redshirt sophomore, pitched in relief of the Longhorns’ 3-1 loss to UC Irvine on Saturday. Curtiss went 1.2 innings and allowed four hits and one earned run. He also had three strikeouts. Curtiss, who was first-team Capital One Academic All-American this year, leads Texas with nine saves. Curtiss was a recent 6th-round draft pick in Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player Draft.
Alexander expects to be TCU’s third starter in Omaha. TCU opened with a dramatic 3-2 victory Sunday against Big 12 rival Texas Tech. Alexander, a freshman All-American selection, leads the Frogs with 10 victories this season.
