Johnny D & the Doo Wopps Come to Southlake for a Free Concert on November 8th

Johnny D and the Doo WoppsSouthlake, Texas – Arts Council Northeast and the City of Southlake are pleased to welcome Johnny D & the Doo Wopps for a concert on November 8, 2014 from 7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The conert will be held in Family Park located in Southlake Town Square.

Johnny D (John E. Dosher) has played in a variety of venues throughout Texas since the late 70’s. His career includes piano bars, symphony halls, stadium concerts and everything in between. Johnny grew up in Louisiana and began his professional career on Bourbon Street at the age of fifteen. Before settling in Texas, Johnny traveled extensively with  numerous rock, jazz  and country groups.

The “Johnny D and the Doo Wopps” band began when Rocky Walton, Bill Stetzer and Tim Carman needed a band to perform for their tennis club in the early ‘80’s. A little at a time, the band grew and became more popular as they began playing for other special occasions.

Their sets include music from the ‘60’s and ‘70’s,  “soul music,” ‘70’s pop, and a little bit of “doo-wopp.” They are a twelve-member band with a great horn section and tight vocal harmonies.  Wherever they play, it is always fun.

Through the MasterWorks Series, Arts Council Northeast and the City of Southlake present free performances on selected evenings throughout the year. The MasterWorks Series is designed to offer a variety of quality family entertainment to the community by utilizing the talent of local, regional, and national artists. If you have any question, please contact Southlake Community Services at (817) 748-8019.
