Tarzan Swings into Carroll Senior High School

Tarzan_4C_MAN-AND-TITLEThe stage adaptation of the 1999 Disney film, Tarzan is this year’s selected musical performance offered by the Carroll Theatre Department.

Tarzan The Stage Musical opens this week. Opening night is Thursday, Nov. 6. The show runs through Sunday, Nov. 9.

Carroll Senior High School’s production is family friendly. Gareth Forsberg plays the role of Clayton, the villainous hunter. But despite a history of bad guy roles, Gareth is described, by the cast, as one of the happiest guys around.

“I try to become that {evil} character by detaching myself from being what is socially acceptable”, Gareth says. “ I am so thrilled to show how savage Clayton is!”

The title character is played by Drew Brown, who says perfecting Tarzan’s trademark yell proved to be a challenge.

“This is by far the most physically demanding show I have ever been in…a constant squat, to stage combat, to gymnastic moves and flying…{but} the Tarzan yell may be the single hardest thing I’ve had to do in this show…it’s a full on yodel!”

Brown has prepared for this yell by watching around 100 different YouTube videos and working with the musical director.

Tarzan The Stage Musical opens Thurs. Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are available at www.dragondrama.net. Additional performances are listed below:
