Carroll Hires Texas Firm To Assist In AD Search

Carroll Dragon logo Trademarked 4Carroll school officials announced today they have hired Champions Consulting & Search Firm to handle the recruitment, application and screening process for the district’s next athletic director.

Since 2002, Champions Search Firm has placed many successful athletic directors and/or head football coaches, ranging from small schools to large high schools, districts and colleges throughout Texas and the Southwest. They have conducted AD searches in Rockwall, Birdville, Grapevine-Colleyville and San Angelo ISDs.

At least two members of the Champions staff are well acquainted with high school athletic programs in North Texas. Key players in recruiting candidates for Carroll’s position will be Ken Purcell, former Denton ISD AD and Bob Ledbetter, who retired as Carroll AD in 2002.

“We believe the contacts and expertise that Champions brings to this process will benefit Carroll ISD,” said Superintendent David J. Faltys. “Our goal is to hire the best athletic director out there, and we believe partnering with Champions in this process is a step in the right direction.”

The Champions staff will recruit candidates, accept and screen applications and turn over a list of finalists to a Carroll ISD AD interview committee led by Dr. JJ Villarreal, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services. The committee will be made up of representative employees and parents, including several head coaches, athletic booster members and CISD Administrators. After interviewing the top finalists, the committee will make a recommendation to Dr. Faltys who will then make a final recommendation to the CISD Board of Trustees.

“We hope to bring a final candidate to the Board by mid-to-late February,” Faltys said. “Ultimately we will be selecting the final candidate, but we want Champions to play an integral role in the recruitment and screening phase.”

Faltys said the position was posted December 1 and the number of finalists will depend on the quality of the candidate pool. Carroll’s AD position was vacated when Kevin Ozee accepted a position with Arlington ISD. Ozee held the position in Carroll for five and a half years and helped lead the program to three consecutive UIL Lone Star Cup awards.
