Dragon Golfers Win Class 6A Championship

The Carroll Dragon boys’ golf team returned home with gold medals and the Class 6A state championship trophy.

Carroll won its first boys’ title since 2004 and edged second-place Austin Westlake by seven strokes. The team of Mason Greenberg, Colin Kober, Ben Fernandez, Triston Fisher and George Gardner led the way to the first 6A crown. The Dragons shot 288 the first day and 300 the second day.

The Dragons also produced the top two medalists. Kober won the 6A state championship and Greenberg finished second. Kober shot 69 and 73 for a 142 total. Greenberg finished three strokes behind and shot 71 and 74. Plano West finished third.

The Lady Dragons finished 11th overall at state and were led by senior Christina Gilchrest.
