Police Officers Memorial Week 2015

The public is invited to attend the annual Police Officers Memorial this Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at our DPS North training facility at 100 East Dove Road.    Police Officers Memorial badge(For those who may not have recieved notice of the change of location, the ceremony was moved from the Rustin Pavilion to the DPS auditorium due to impending weather.)

This event falls during National Police Week, which President John F. Kennedy proclaimed in 1962 as the week of May 15, which is National Peace Officers Memorial Day.

The ceremony will honor all of the fallen police officers who have died in the line of duty across the country. Since the first recorded police death in 1791, there have been over 20,000 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

We hope you will be able to join us as we pay tribute to our fallen heroes.
